Car Bomb Kills At Least 25 In Pakistan

At least 25 people were killed Friday morning when a suicide car bomb exploded near a crowded market in northwest Pakistan, police said. The car bomb detonated shortly after 11 a.m. (1 a.m. ET) near the Kacha Pakha bazaar in the Kohat District in Pakistan's Northwest Frontier Province, said Dilwar Bangish, a district police chief. The target was a Shia neighborhood and most of the victims are Shias, said Ali Hassan of the district police. The residents had received threats from Taliban in the past, he said. Several shops and buildings collapsed in the blast, trapping victims. Thirty-six people were injured in the explosion, according to police.
