Regent Ghana Students' Union Threaten Legal Action Against School Management

"Raising Transformation Leaders and change Agents". This is the mission of Regent University College of Science and Technology. Ironically, the school management has done everything possible to undermine the student representative council (RGSU) thereby making leadership a big challenge at the student union level.

The student representative council is supposed to be a preparatory grounds for the "Transformation leaders" but from the way the school management is handling the union most students ( citizens) have began to loose interest in the union and shy away from leadership.

On the 10th October, 2015 power was handed over to the current administration of the Regent Ghana students' union (RGSU) headed by Mr. Enoch Edusei as the president. Ever since then the issue of finance has been persistent.

The union is funded by a percentage of school fees from citizens, getting this funds from the school have seemed impossible.

For instance, during the SRC week of this administration, fund was not released on time which caused the executives to pre - finance the events of the SRC week, this has left the union in debt and her creditors are currently threaten to take legal action.

As a union, we see this issue as a deliberate attempt to weaken the students' union from discharging its duties effectively.

All measures for dialogue have been exhausted and we are prepared to take a legal action against the management of the university as the National Accreditation Board ( NAB) prescribes independence of the students' union.

This issue of finance has created an inability of the union to embark on the various projects and programs proposed to help the student body.

The union wish to use this medium to call on the media to play their role in settling this situation as we have already exhausted all internal measures of dialogue. Thanks in anticipation for your help.
