There is good news for the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana – their cries have been heard by the Mahama-led administration after numerous complains of high VAT rate on raw materials they import.

According to President John Dramani Mahama in his 2016 State of The Nation Address – “government will remove VAT on all Pharmaceutical raw materials.”

He noted that his administration is keen on creating more jobs in the pharmaceutical industry – he also lauded the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Group of Companies, Mr Samuel Amo Tobin for his immense contribution to the pharmaceutical industry.

“We also want to create more jobs in the pharmaceutical industry," he said – adding that “our healthcare system has improved tremendously. We continue to invest heavily in the sector for a more improved system."
