Isaac Oboso, a 28-year-old bicycle repairer at Anomabo in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central Region, who has allegedly entered into narcotic business, has fallen foul of the law.
The man, who appeared before a Cape Coast circuit court presided over by Kofi Amatawee on Tuesday, was charged with the offence of possession of narcotic drug.
He was therefore remanded into prison custody to re-appear on March 10, 2016.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Peter Paul Amoah said the complainant in the case is Nana Kwagyakwa, the Adontenhene of Anomabo Traditional Area, while the accused is a bicycle repairer in the area.
Chief Inspector Amoah stated that on February 3, 2016 at about 11am, the complainant and two other witnesses went to Anomabo near the old castle and met the accused person possessing some dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp (ganja) and tinny wraps of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.
Chief Inspector Amoah added that the complainant and the two other witnesses, who were not happy about what they saw, had no other option than to apprehend him and hand him over to the police at Anomabo.
The prosecutor said a search conducted on him at the police station revealed a black polythene bag containing 77 wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp and 46 tinny wraps of whitish substance suspected to be cocaine.
The police officer pleaded with the court to remand him to enable the police take the substance to the lab for testing.
