Police Tame Ayi Mensah Terror For Harassing Land Developers

Police last Wednesday warn a man, whom Ayi Mensah residents in Accra describe as ‘Ayi Mensah Terror’ to desist from harassing land developers and potential land owners until he is able to proof with pictorial evidence that he owns a land in that area.

This was after one Asante Okyere, who has for a longer period claimed ownership of the land caused the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) division of the police to wrongfully assault two bosses of Positive Drive Investment, a real estate developer over some portions of land in the area when they had gone to grade the land.

According to the Managing Director of Positive Drive, Mr. Faisal Mohammed, the SWAT team of five who came stop them from working on their land had been ordered by one Asante Okyere who claimed that the land belonged to him.

“We were with our men working on our land when about five policemen showed up from nowhere holding guns and asking us to stop work. They threatened us with their guns and asked who gave us the right to work on Asante`s land. Immediately, one hit one of our men on the chest, another destroyed the camera we used to take photos of our activities on site, and they handcuffed me, and told us they were taking us to the CID Headquarters. They had refused to listen to everything we were to say and this was a clear indication that they had been misinformed to do what they came to do”, Faisal narrated.

He noted that Asante Okyere had no legal documentations that served as evidence backing his claims, adding that he is popularly known for mischief at Ayimensah.

“We have valid documents that make the land our bonafide property so we expect Asante Okyere to provide his documents too if he claims our land belongs to him”, Faisal challenged.

He hinted that Okyere for a couple of years had used this fraudulent means with the aid of some unfaithful police personnel to threaten and claim properties of people.

Independently, the New Crusading GUIDE gathered from people living within the community when we visited the area that, Asante Okyere was just a trouble maker who does nothing but threaten and bully people, and that he had for over a period of about ten years tormented inhabitants who lived in the vicinity over the land which he had no legal documents to.

“Each time we came unto the portion of land to find firewood he attacked us. If your dog passes on the land, he will even kill it and he had one boy who was always used machetes to attack people who came on the land”, an inhabitant of the area hinted.

Meanwhile, attempts to reach Mr. Asante for his side of the story proved futile.
