Mr Donald Amuah, a Social Worker, has asked political leaders to engage the youth in activities that would promote unity and patriotism instead of pushing them into partisan politics which was polarizing the nation. He said a country divided along political lines lacked peace and was prone to violent conflicts. Mr Amuah, also the Executive Director of the Programme to Strengthen Community Organization and Management (POSCOM), a Non Governmental Organisation, was speaking on the topic; �Conflict Prevention, Resolution and Transformation, the Role of the Youth in Northern Ghana,� at a two-day workshop in Wa. The workshop was organised by Tamale Ecclesiastical Province Pastoral Conference (TEPPCON) and sponsored by Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAF), for leaders of prominent women�s groups in the Upper West Region. Mr Amuah said the perception held by a section of the public that �everything Nkrumah is bad and every thing Danqual/Busia is bad� was cutting through the social integration of the country. Ms Agnes Gandaa, Partnership Coordinator of TEPPCON urged religious leaders in the region to educate the people to prepare and participate fully in next year�s census. She said this was an important exercise which nobody should play politics with, as that would determine the region�s future development.
