The Beauty Of Ghanas Indece Day Eclipsed By Journalists In Tipper Truck GIBA Prez

The President of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association [GIBA], Kwesi Agyemang has expressed disappointment in the way and manner government officials handled journalists during Ghana’s 59th birthday.

According to him – “What happened was really a shame. Pictures of journalists going viral on social media whiles independence parade was on going. It wasn’t the best.”

Journalists accredited to cover the 59th Independence Day celebration, were left with no option than to cruise in a white tipper truck to take photos and videos.

Pictures of the unfortunate incident went viral with some of the journalists showing an angry gesture but still had to hop on the truck to execute their duty for their respective media houses.

According to the journalists - security arrangements did not allow them to get close to some of the activities at the parade grounds.

The most dangerous part was when they had to get onto the track with a ladder which looked extremely precarious.

GIBA president, Kwesi Agyemang says his outfit is yet to communicate officially on the issue but maintained that the journalists were treated poorly.

“We are pleading with authorities to handle the media with care and stop treating them shabbily. This shouldn’t happen again. The media deserve some respect, our respect shouldn’t be at the back of tipper truck,” he said in an interview on Peace FM’s morning show 'Kokrokoo'.
