Ghana @59: Our Living Conditions? . . . Ghanaians Are The Better Judges - Nana Akomea

Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea, marking the 59th Independence Day celebration has commended Ghanaians for maintaining the peace of the country.

According to him, “we have done well because when you look at some of the African countries, they are full of mayhem; civil war has destroyed their countries. Countries like Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan and South Sudan have not been successful as Ghana in terms of peace.”

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Nana Akomea delighted in the fact that Ghanaians after independence has lived as one country without a civil war, he thus thank God for helping Ghana chalk such success.

He however bemoaned that the situation is different in other aspects as Ghanaians cannot be proud of themselves in terms of their living conditions, reiterating that Ghanaians lives do not depict the country’s age.

“But in our lives as citizens, I will beg you to discuss this with the rest of Ghanaians if their lives are better as Ghana has turned 59 years,” he indicated.

Meanwhile, President John Mahama addressing the gathering at the Independence Square to celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day said the independence of the country should not be taken for granted.

“The struggles and sacrifices that were required to gain us our liberty must never ever be forgotten,” said President John Dramani Mahama.

President Mahama again said “the successes and failures of this nation belong to all of us because this country is for all of us and we can each choose to play a role, no matter how seemingly minor, in moving our dear nation forward.”
