Ghana @59: Dr. Omane Boamah Should Be Sacked - Atik Mohammed

Atik Mohammed says the Minister of Communications Dr. Edward Omane Boamah should be fired with immediate effect.

He claimed the Minister cannot exonerate himself from the public faux-pas that characterized the 59th Independence Day Celebration.

To him, Dr. Omane Boamah superintended over the error-ridden brochure because he is in charge of all government communications and so appeal to him to eat humble pie and vacate his office in the interest of the nation.

As a matter of fact, the Minister of Communication himself must be fired. Oh yes! Look, this thing comes directly under the Ministry of Communication . . . So if the Ministry can sit down for this gaffe to happen and the Minister is still enjoying his post; hes not talking about it but if it were any other thing that doesnt need his comment, youll find him jumping from station to station giving commentaries.

A statement released by Dr. Edward Omane Boamah indicated that Acting Director of the Information Services Department Francis Kwarteng Arthur has been relieved of his duties.

"A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, also indicated that the Ministry of Communications assumes responsibility of the Flagstaff House Communications Bureau," the statement further read.

But to Atik Mohammed, Dr. Omane Boamah should also lay down his working tools because "Ministry is directly responsible for these things. Government communication is the sole responsibility of that Ministry with departments and agencies under it.
