A grand durbar to mark the centenary celebration of the late Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana�s first President, was held at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park today. It was attended by President John Evans Atta Mills, Vice President, John Mahama, the Speaker of Parliament, Mrs Joyce Bamford Addo, the Chief Justice Mrs Georgina Wood, Member of the Council of State, Members of Parliament, Ministers of State and Members of the Diplomatic Corps and traditional leaders. Representatives of the CPP, NDC, NPP and PNC attended the ceremony as well as a large number of African Americans. The Unity flag which was taken round all the regional capitals of the country was brought to the durbar ground and signed by President Mills around 2.07pm. President Mills said Ghana under the NDC government will not forget to honour its past heroes and described the late Dr Nkrumah as a selfless African leader, who remained committed to the wellbeing of Ghana and the African continent. In solidarity messages, the TUC, Africans in the Diaspora, the Ministry of Women and Children�s Affairs and the All-Africa Students Union praised Dr Nkrumah for his selfless and visionary leadership.
