NDC Klottey Korle Election: Nii John Coleman Withdraws Suit Against Zanetor

A defeated NDC Klotttey Korle Parliamentary Candidate aspirant, Nii John Coleman who together with incumbent Member of Parliament for the area, Nii Armah Ashietey filed a suit challenging the eligibility of Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings as Parliamentary Candidate has withdrawn from the case.

According to him, he took the decision following advice he got from the Greater Accra Regional Council of Elders of the party led by Nii Okaidja Adamafio former MP for Odododiodio.

Incumbent MP Nii Armah Ashietey and Nii John Coleman (who both lost in the primary) filed a suit praying the Court to prevent Dr. Rawlings from holding herself out as parliamentary candidate-elect for the constituency on the ticket of the NDC.

They claim Dr. Zanetor Rawlings’ election was unlawful because she is not a registered voter.

At the last court hearing, the Presiding Judge, Justice Kweku Ackaah Boafo, threw out an application from the lawyers of Dr. Rawlings seeking to dismiss the suit brought against her.

In the ruling of the court, the judge Justice Kweku Ackaah Boafo said the motion was without basis. The lawyers were subsequently ordered to open their defense.

But in court today (Friday) Kasapa FM’s Court correspondent Daakyehene Ofosu Agyeman reported that Nii John Coleman shocked Nii Armah Ashietey and his supporters when he told the court he was not interested in the case anymore and further cleared that his move is not based on the fact that he had been threatened by anyone.

Meanwhile the Electoral Commission after supplying the court with the information that Dr. Rawlings is not a registered voter according to their records, has been struck out of the case.

The ruling NDC has rather entered an appearance in the case which has been adjourned to March 18.
