On October 6, President Mills, and iconic midfielders Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, would be expected to pledge their support for IGOAL, in a televised global ceremony at the Ohene Djan Stadium. The anticipated grand ceremony will be anchored from London, where British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will participate. Via satellite link-ups, there will also be participation from Prime Minister Zapatero in Spain, President Zuma in South Africa, and Prime Minister Balkenende in the Netherlands. And indications are that the GFA/PLB TV station of the year, Metro TV, having agreed to provide the feed for GTV, will telecast the global ceremony live at 1.00pm with ace broadcaster Yaw Ampofo Ankrah doing the hosting, and the television link-up from Accra. He would introduce the President, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills, who would be invited to say a few words in support of IGOAL. The 2010 World Cup project, code name �I GOAL,� is a Global Campaign for Education, by a civil society organisation representing more than a hundred countries, was launched in August 2009. Working closely with FIFA, the purpose of IGOAL is to use the 2010 Mundial as an opportunity to get all governments to work to ensure every child, across the world, gets free quality public education. The British government, led by the Department for International Development (DFID), is providing significant funding for the Global Campaign for Education, and is fully supporting IGOAL. Leading footballers form across the world are supporting IGOAL, and many came together in London lat month, at the official launch. Also in attendance, would be school children from across the country. Former BBC broadcaster, Martin Davies is the co-ordinator of the IGOAL project.
