Murtada Abdallah, a 10-year-old class four pupil, got drowned when he slipped into a gutter at Sawaba, a suburb of Kumasi, near Ansurul Sunna School, at about 6pm on Saturday after a heavy downpour.

Narrating the incident to The Finder, Fuseini Mohammed, an uncle of Murtada, said he was in the company of his colleagues when the rain started, and after it subsided, they tried crossing a big gutter covered by a wooden slab.

The colleagues passed across the gutter, but, unfortunately, Murtada and one boy fell into the gutter when the slab broke; the other managed to cross but Murdata got carried by the running water.

According to the assemblyman of the area, Alhaji Anyass, the family, with the support of the youth of the area, has been searching for the body since Saturday night.

The case has since been reported to the Asokore Mampong Police.
