I've No Personal Interest . . . My Client Wants NDCs Laws Respected - Nii Armah Ashietey's Lawyer

Lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo, the counsel for the embattled NDC Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Hon Nii Armah Ashietey has begged to differ on the assumption by some NDC members that he wants to destroy the party.

According to the NDC Deputy General Secretary George Lawson, Gary Nimako is a member of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is taking undue advantage of the fact that he is representing the incumbent NDC MP in court over the eligibility of Dr. Zenator Agyeman Rawlings to destroy the party.

He insisted that Gary Nimako Marfo has a hidden agent against the NDC which explains why he is castigating the NDC as a party; adding the lawyer has gone personal in the case involving the NDC members.

“He has taken the case personal; the way he talks is as if he has something personal against the NDC . . . if you are a lawyer, just discharge your duties professionally, don’t come and be castigating us as a party . . . he cannot destroy our party,” he chided.

But Lawyer Gary Nimako on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show said he is tired of the way the NDC is handling the party’s constitution which is supposed to create fairness for the members of the party.

To him, the argument that one can come and contest primaries and later go for national registration is so ‘fraud’ because the rules and regulations governing the primaries of NDC is in force and not suspended.

“I just fail to understand why NDC will break their own law on how it will govern their conducts in order to have fairness and allow a particular person to breach that law . . . Zenator Rawlings should not have appeared before the Vetting Committee in the first place,” he argued.

“I am tired of this matter because sometimes when you speak about it, people think it is a personal matter, but it is not a personal matter. We have made our point that the law of the party must be respected but whatever will be the outcome is up to them,” he averred.

He deduced that the work of the Vetting Committee is a suspect because if they had looked at the Candidate’s voter ID card, they would have known that she does not qualify.
