We Don't Have Time For Bawumia NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected accusations that it was behind the cancellation of Dr Bawumia’s lecture on the premises of the Dambai College of Education in the Volta Region.

The party’s reactions come after the Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), was denied access to the college where he was billed to address the students.

The NPP said the incident was purely a machination by the Government to stop the party from trumpeting its campaign promise of restoring the teacher trainee allowances which have been scrapped and replaced with the Students Loan Scheme.

However in a Citi News interview, the Volta Regional Secretary of the NDC, Mustapha Gbande, said there is no truth in the NPP’s claims.

He rubbished reports that students were prevented from attending Dr. Bawumia’s lecture saying, “As at yesterday [Monday], the turnout of students that had reported on Akatsi Training College campus were about 300.”

According to Mr. Gbande, the NDC has no time to meddle in the affairs of Dr. Bawumia saying any reports to the contrary are untrue.

“Bawumia should stop going round the areas and peddling falsehood. So if they are accusing us of frustrating their programme, it’s a big lie. Nobody in the NDC has time for Bawumia,” he stated. In his view, the NPP is a dead party, adding that their activities are not a bother to the chances of the NDC.

According to him, the NDC has performed creditably and will be given another chance come November 7. “In fact we want NDC followers to come out so Ghanaians will get to see that the NPP as a party is dead.”
