Suspected robber arrested in Ho

Kofi Fiagbedzi, alias Spider, a suspected robber on the police wanted list, was on Saturday nabbed in Ho by a joint police operation from Accra and Ho. A Toyota RAV vehicle suspected to have been snatched at Adenta in Accra by Spider was retrieved in the operation. Six others, Godwim Tenu, Richmond Kasu, Charles Sallah, Richard Klutse, Francis Tetteh and Eric Apedo, who were on the vehicle and aged between 22 and 30 years, were also arrested. Mr David Ampah-Bennin, Volta Regional Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday that intelligence reports indicated that Fiagbedzi, also called Lion, Beento and Sakora, was hiding somewhere in the Volta Region. He said a police team made up of officers from Accra and the Ho Regional Command led by Mr Dominic Agbozo, Assistant Superintendent of Police, commenced surveillance and chanced upon the suspected stolen vehicle in the Ho township and arrested its occupants. Mr Ampah-Bennin said the driver told the police that the vehicle was being sent to one Mr Victus Norgbe at Aflao. He said the police then arranged to meet the said Mr Norgbe at Dzodze but on arrival, Norgbe took to his heels on seeing that the vehicle was being followed by the police but was chased and arrested. Mr Ampah-Bennin urged the public to show concern in the fight against crime and report suspicious characters to the police. Mr Ampah-Bennin said Fiagbedzi was known in Ho and indications were that he had been in and out of the municipality many times and also had relations in the area but nobody ventured to report him to the police. He also cautioned hoteliers to be vigilant and report suspicious characters who stay in their hotels to the police. Mr Ampah-Bennin urged the public to be curious about new vehicles with unmatched older registration numbers.
