Sammy Crabbes Suit Against NPP Suffers Setback

The suit filed by the suspended Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, challenging his suspension, suffered a setback on Thursday.

This was after an Accra High Court ordered him to argue his case against the party through an affidavit. The court thus rejected the statement of case filed by his lawyers.

According to the court, the case brought before it, is seeking a determination of the legality of the actions of the National Executive Council of the NPP. It explained that this needs to be argued out with affidavits and not a statement of case filed by the plaintiff.

The suspended Vice Chair of the NPP opted to go to court months after his suspension by the National Executive Council, citing violation of the rules of natural justice, error on the face of the records and a breach of procedure.

Mr. Crabbe in his suit argued that the two members whose petition led to his suspension, Mr. Boye Laryea and Ms. Gladys Tsotso Mann-Dedey, were not members of congress and could not have initiated such proceedings against him.

Mr. Crabbe was suspended indefinitely last year, alongside the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong. The suspension of the two came after the suspension of the National Chairman Paul Afoko.
