Car bursts into flames after accident

Mr Samuel Abadah, believed to be an employee of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), in Ho, on Monday sustained various degrees of injuries when a BMW Three Series car he was driving collided with a Nissan Pick-Up vehicle in front of the Ho Central Police Station at 2130 hours. Mr Abadah's car caught fire, burning beyond repairs, despite attempts by a large crowd of holiday makers at a street jam to put the fire off. Some eye witnesses, including policemen, called personnel of the National Fire Service but when they arrived, the car was totally burnt to ashes. Mr Fred Lumor, Assistant Superintendent of Police in charge of Motor Transport and Traffic Unit (MTTU) in the Volta Region told the Ghana News Agency that Mr Abadah had since been admitted at the Ho Municipal Hospital and responding to treatment. He said his outfit was investigating the cause of the accident but noted that the BMW was without a fire extinguisher, which could have helped in controlling the fire.
