Call Me Mr. Mahama, Not Dr. Mahama President

President John Mahama has expressed appreciation to all who congratulated him after he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Aberdeen University.

"Thank you all for the messages. Thanks also to the @aberdenuni Faculty for the honour done me and Ghanaians all over the globe. - JM" he wrote on his twitter handle.

However, President Mahama does not want to be referred to as Dr. Mahama but rather Mr. John Dramani Mahama.

"It is indeed a great honour, but I wish to remain & be addressed as Mr. John Dramani Mahama and not Dr Mahama. Thanks. - JM"

Meanwhile, this is what he wrote on his facebook page, Friday:

I visited the Scottish Parliament for the first time today, and held very fruitful discussions with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon MSP and the Presiding Officer, Rt Hon Tricia Marwick MSP.

In my address to a meeting of Members of the House, I noted among others that, "Africa is an emerging continent with a fast growing population. We are therefore a continent in a hurry. A ticking youth bulge requires that we speed up the process of economic growth in order that we can provide decent jobs for the large number of young people graduating from our schools. Accelerated economic growth, expansion of manufacturing and agriculture will guarantee jobs and stop the risky flow of young Africans across the Mediterranean in search of new opportunities in Europe."
