2 Grabbed For Selling Exam Papers

Two persons, who allegedly stole West African Examination Council (WAEC) Nov-Dec examination papers and sold them to students for an unknown fee, have been hauled before an Accra court to answer 17 charges. Francis Ahidome aka Yesuvi, a service technician with Keat Investments Ghana Limited, a company contracted by WAEC to service their printing machine, allegedly stole the Integrated Science, English, Core and Elective Maths papers from the booklet make of the printing machine, copied and answered the question, and gave them to Mognus Adima aka Rockfeller, a teacher of Adidome LA Primary, who also wrote them on a different sheet and labelled it J.H.S questions and sold them out to students. Their action, according to the police, has caused WAEC to incur a loss of GH200,840 following the cancelation of the paper and suspension of core and elective maths because they have to print a new set. However, the accused persons have pleaded not guilty to charges such as illegal possession of the examination papers, conspiracy, stealing, leakage of examination papers and other related examination malpractices. They have been remanded into police custody by Justice D.E. K. Daketsey to re-appear on October 7 2009 after the prosecutor, A.A Annor, had prayed the court to remand them for further investigations to be conducted to arrest other suspects who helped in the printing and distribution of the papers.
