Kotoko Defend Addo Snub

Asante Kotoko have accused former coach Herbert Addo of trying to 'blackmail' the club into handing him a contract extension. Addo failed to get a contract renewal after unimpressive performances in the top four and had to part ways with the club to sign for new boys Aduana Stars. The former Hearts of Oak boss accused Kotoko of acting in bad faith and deliberately refusing to offer him a contract. But the club has been quick to react his claims insisting that Herbert Addo tried to twist their hands. "Herbert Addo tried to blackmail us and forcing us to give him a new deal when we in some form of crisis in the top four," Communication director Jarvis Peprah said. "He took a unilateral decision after we spoke with him to take his time so we sort out some few issues. "So if you are a coach and you abandons the team two days before a match and the team losses, you expect the club to maintain such a person? "He threw his professional coaching credentials into the gutters."
