Health Screening For Flagstaff House Personnel

The Prince Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church (PESDAC) has organised a free health screening for security personnel living at the Flagstaff House barracks.

The security officers and their spouses were screened by health personnel from the La General Hospital and the Prince Emmanuel Seventh-Day Adventist Church for blood pressure, blood sugar, Hepatitis B, weight and height measurement for Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation.

The free health screening is an annual Independence Day gesture  by the church to demonstrate aspects of its compassionate ministry to the society.

For this year, the church selected the police and military personnel and their families living at the Flagstaff Service Personnel barracks for the exercise.

Over 300 residents screened

Over 300 residents joined in the free exercise which made them awaren of their health status, and highlighted the need to prevent the onset of diseases and the need to seek further medical attention from health professionals.

Speaking on behalf of officers of the barracks, DSP Lydia Osei Adjapong expressed her gratitude to the church for thinking about the health status of the security personnel.

She said the service personnel could discharge their duties effectively and efficiently when they were in good health and so she entreated her colleague officers to also cultivate the habit of checking their health status frequently and remedy adverse findings before the unfortunate happened.

The Head Elder of the church, Dr Nana Kwaku Gyamfi, also counselled the personnel that the church was only complementing the efforts of the government and other organisations in creating a prosperous nation through the provision of such health interventions for individuals who usually overlooked the importance of preventative care.

The exercise, which started at 10 a.m, ended at 4 p.m with live music from the Manifest – a professional singing group in the church.
