Security Agencies Downplayed Already! - Amass Ghana Questioned

In regards to the recent arrest of the three South African police officers at the El Capitano Hotel in Agona Duakwa in the Central region on Sunday, March 20, Amass Ghana find it hunky-dory to commend the Bureau of National Investigation (BNI) for the gilt-edged job and herculean investigations which stimulated its immediate arrest of the three.

Amass Ghana, a peace advocacy group, has recognize the toils of the security agencies in ensuring peace and security in Ghana and its annex, but it’s much perplexed and bewildered as to how these ex-officers entered this country.

This is not the first time this country has been exposed to influx, a vivid example is the Burkinabe’s gun-runner who managed to smuggle weapons into this country and latter apprehended at Akwatialine by the Ashanti regional police command.

It is in view of this that, Amass Ghana raises eye brows and wish to seek clarifications on the following questions.

1) Is the security agencies up to task? If yes, then we don’t see it that way.

2) Are our borders too porous? If no, then why the influx?

3) Are we save under their watch, looking at the impending polls?

4) Has the security agencies, peace council and the interior ministry considered Ghana standing a risk to prone to chaos as it happened in Ivory Coast, Rwanda and other neighboring countries?

Amass Ghana thinks these are pertinent questions begging for answers and the answers supplied to these questions will inform Ghanaians as to whether our security agencies are indeed working industriously for mother Ghana or have conked-out on the job.

Amass Ghana is expecting government and the security agency to consider, analyze and take a swift action in ensuring those absorbent borders being tightened to prevent the nation from being endangered with a possible impasse, which could derail the peace Ghanaians have cotton to or dotted-on, in the impending November 7, polls.

The three men, Major Almed Shaik Hazis (Rtd), Denver Dwahye (Rtd), and Captain Mungiseleli Jokani (Rtd) who are believed to be brought in by the opposition New Patriotic Party to champion their hidden agenda is a disgrace to the elephants and the country at large.

Amass Ghana was dawned with sadness after monitoring the commentary being passed by the party’s deputy communications director, Perry Okudzeto, hinting that the continuous popularity of the Flagbearer and the running mate requires that their security detail is trained on how to handle crowd.

When quizzed about weapon handling, Mr. Okudzeto stressed that the men were not being trained in weapon handling and that the alarm being created was needless.

Amass Ghana thinks Mr. Okudzeto was either rolled out of bed to answer the questions or was blunt to details of the whole issues, consequently exposing his ignorant. We find it so sick for him to base his argument on popularity and business, when we know too well that, there is something fishy about the whole hullabaloo.

On this note, Amass Ghana would like to employ Ghanaians to be vigilant and resist any attempt by politicians to use them in championing their vile course.

Thank You.
