English Exams Paper Used In Mocking Akufo-Addo Cancelled

The English Language mock Paper of Basic Schools in Pusiga in the Upper East Region has been cancelled.

Question 18 of the paper asked pupils to choose the "nearest in meaning " to the word  "canvass" captured in the question" Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo popular known as  "all die be die" canvassed for votes for his eloquence " this, most people say it was in bad taste leading to the cancellation of the paper.

The Mock Examination is organized yearly in the district to test and build the capacity of Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE  Candidates before the final examination.

But in an interview with Ghnews360's Samuel Mbura, the Pusiga District Education Director, Cosmos Yeladour said, the questions were not set by Teachers in the District because the Assembly contracted an independent body to set and print the exams questions.

He said the paper was supposed to have been written last week but there was a delay which made them to postpone it to Monday. And the papers arrived late and sealed so there was no time for his outfit to peruse the questions.

Mr Yeladour stated that his attention was drawn to the issue by some Teachers who were invigilating the Pupils. So a meeting was immediately  convened with the DCE and they arrived at cancelling the paper because it was in bad taste.

"The questions were not set by Teachers in Pusiga District because it was a sponsored exams by the Assembly, so the DCE knows where the questions have been printed from" he stated

The DCE, Hon Abdullai in clarifying the issue indicated the the Assembly contracted the services of Solidarity International School, a private school based in Accra to conduct the exams but the questions were not set in the District.

"We needed an independent body to set and print the exams questions so we contracted the services of Solidarity International School based in Accra to do the work" he explained

He however said that the paper has been cancelled but the Assembly would not bear the cost incurred in printing the cancelled English paper.

He also apologized for the harm caused to those who have misconstrued that Name used as referring to the NPP Flagbearer.
