Head of the private security detail for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flag bearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, Captain (rtd) Edmund Koda says he never told the BNI in their interaction that he failed to process some documents in connection to the 3 South Africans who came into the country to train some NPP security personnel.

According to him, he is not ready to disclose the exact conversation he had with officials of the BNI to anyone, but whoever wants to challenge him on the issue can go to the BNI for the full version of the recordings.

“It is not true, it is never true, I didn’t tell the BNI that,” this was in response to a question posed to him by Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM’s ‘Kokrokoo’ programme that it has been reported that he confirmed to the BNI that he failed to process some documents of the 3 South African ex-policemen who have been deported.

“Allotey (Allotey Jacobs, Central Regional Chairman of the NDC) does not believe my lawyer and might not believe what I’m also saying so he should tell the BNI to play to him the full version of our interview from the beginning to the end, that is all I will say,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi in an exclusive interview.  

Allotey Jacobs, had on the same platform, stated that he did not believe Captain (Rtd) Edmund Koda had full documentation on the 3 South Africans - who have since been deported to their homeland by the Ghana Immigration Service - as Captain Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey (Rtd) had earlier re-echoed in an interview earlier with Neat FM.

The former Local Government Minister in the erstwhile Kufuor administration opined in the said interview that the party erred in bringing down the three South African ex-police officers to train the security personnel of its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, the approach was ‘wrongfully’ planned and maintained that the NPP has become a laughing stock for their own decision.

He noted that however, that the decision by the party to beef up their security ahead of the November polls was “perfect”, but the timing was absolutely wrong.

"May be we could have done it better by getting some retired Ghanaian officers to do the training," he told Kwesi Aboagye on Neat FM.
