Northern Muslim Leaders Call For New Committee To See To The Bimbila Conflicts

Muslim leaders in the Northern Region are calling on government to set up a new committee to see to the Bimbila conflicts.

Addressing a press conference, Sheikh Amin Bamba said - “The protracted chieftaincy conflicts that are raging on in three of the four traditional areas of the northern region; Dagbon, Bimbila and Bunplugu have had a negative consequences on the lives of not only the people of the Dagbon traditional area but the people of the northern region as a whole.”

“It is rather sad that, the Nanumba royal family who are the brothers to the Dagbon royal family have not learnt a lesson from the negative consequences of the Dagbon conflicts and have plunged themselves into a similar conflict which has begun to worsen the situation,” he lamented.

According to the leaders - Dagbon traditional area can only resolve these conflicts when “traditional leaders and politicians work hand in hand.”

They therefore appealed to government to set up a new committee to see to the Bimbila conflicts and the leaders of the two royal family Abudu and the Andani Gates to re-commit themselves to the peace processes with the view to find lasting solution to the family dispute in the interest of people of Dagbon over whom they exercise their leadership.
