Industries Not Interested In Book-Long Graduates - Prez Mahama

President John Mahama has stated that the demands of the job market have changed and industries are now interested in skilled and practical personnel rather than book long graduates.

"The demands of the job market in Ghana have changed, business and Industries [are] no longer looking for the book-long grammar school education that some of us received, the job market today is looking for skilled, practical and technical personnel."

President Mahama made the comments during the launch of the conversion of some six Polytechnics to Technical Universities in Takoradi.

The conversion process has been fraught with a number of challenges as some of the institutions complained about their exclusion from the first list of six schools to be upgraded.

At the launch on the Takoradi Polytechnic campus, Mr. Mahama said technical and vocational education is very essential to the national development.
