Baako Rages: Culture Of Impunity Must Stop . . . Elsewhere Kamara Would Be Pushed Out Of The Window

Kweku Baako, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper has questioned the basis for the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) arrest of the Chief Executive of Marbles and Granites Dr. Edmund Ayo Ani.

The BNI at the behest of the National Security Advisor Baba Kamara arrested the businessman for taking pictures of vehicles in his facility and circulating the information on social media.

Baba Kamara accused Dr. Ayo of spreading information on social media that he had diverted vehicles meant for the NCCE to the NDC, hence causing the arrest of Dr. Ayo.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako stated emphatically that BNI arrest had no legal basis.

He asked whether the BNI and Baba Kamara could prove that it was the abovementioned individual who circulated the pictures on social media.

To Kweku Baako, the BNI arrested the "wrong person" because there is no evidence to the fact that Dr. Ayo was the person who took the pictures and uploaded them on social media.

According to him, the fact that the pictures were taken from his outfit does not mean Dr Ayo Ani is the brain behind it.

Kweku Baako also described the National Security Advisor's order for arrest of Dr. Ayo as "impunity", claiming that Baba Kamara "doesn't have the power" to command the BNI.

Mr. Baako noted that Baba Kamara's action was a "clear-cut abuse of office" and opined that "elsewhere Baba Kamara would resign or be asked to step aside; I mean push him out of the window."

First of all, National Security Advisor is not even recognized by the constitution, not even by the intelligence and security Act. He doesn’t have power. His duty is to advise the President on security issues…National Security Advisor has no constitutional or legal status that he should call the BNI and order them. Elsewhere, the BNI Director will not even take the instructions.

"The lasting lesson is to insist that the right thing must be done. That sub-culture of impunity that we are generating in our body politick must be wiped out regardless of which party is in office.

He added that Mr. Kamara goofed for causing the man's arresting; explaining that he should have sought legal action against Dr. Ayo if he believed Dr. Ayo had defamed him.

"He ordered the BNI to effect an arrest that had no legal basis. But for propaganda and cronyism and such kind of unsophisticated politics that we are doing in this country; which NDC person should get such courage to defend this or rationalize this thing. It’s clear-cut abuse of office. Simplicita...Baba Kamara is my very good friend and not today. But I should be clear in my mind that what has done is wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.
