STATEMENT: NPP Has Not Considered Reinstating Afoko And Kwabena Agyepong

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied news and speculations making rounds that suspended National Chairman and General Secretary of the party, Paul Awentime Afoko and Kwabena Agyei Agyepong respectively are expected to be reinstated by the party anytime soon.

The rumor also stated that the party is also considering a return of the Second National Vice-Chairman, Sammy Crabbe who is also on suspension.

Inside sources said the level at which discussions for the return of the trio have reached would be impossible for the party to rescind its decision, especially, as they enter into the critical months of the electioneering campaign.

Communications Director of the party has in a statement denied the speculation.

"At the last Steering and National Executive Committee meetings, this issue did not come up at all for any discussion, much less a decision," the statement said.

In December last year, Mr. Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe were released from their post by the party on grounds of misconduct.

The two executives received the indefinite suspension after a crunch meeting by the National Executive Committee of the party following a recommendation by the Disciplinary Committee.

Prior to arriving at that decision, the elephant family had in October slapped a similar sanction on their National Chairman, Paul Afoko.
