Lance Corporal Daniel Amponsa, a 32-year old officer with the Ekuase Local Prisons in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, has been crashed to death by a vehicle.
The accident occurred at the main entrance of the Saint John’s Secondary School, near Ekuase at about 1900 hours, on Saturday.
Amponsah sustained severe body injuries and was rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital but died shortly on arrival.
The Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prison Service, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP), Mr. Enoch Owusu Sekyere, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency.
He said the body of the deceased had since been deposited at the same hospital, awaiting autopsy while Police investigation was underway.
