2016 Election: PNC Flagbearer To Name Journalist As Running Mate

The People’s National Convention (PNC) Presidential candidate Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama has revealed that he will settle on a Journalist as his running mate for the November general elections.

According to the five- time Presidential Candidate of the Nkrumahist party he will in the coming weeks make the announcement of the person he believes will complement him as Vice President to rule Ghana in 2017.

Dr Mahama received 3.0% of the votes in the 1996 elections. In his second attempt at the presidency in 2000, he won 2.5% of the votes. He placed third out of four candidates during the 2004 elections, winning 1.9% of the votes. His last contest was in the 2008 presidential elections.

In 2012, he was beaten by Hassan Ayariga to the flag bearer slot.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana programme, the gynecologist cum politician stated that the PNC which is working very hard in the run-up to the election has positioned itself to be in the runoff in the 2016 election, as no individual candidate will garner more than 30% of votes cast.

“The PNC is not going to support other parties should the 2016 election goes into a runoff as we have done in the past. History does not always repeat itself. My party and I have previously thrown our weight behind others however, 2016 is the time for others to also support the PNC win the elections”.

Dr Edward Mahama added that his party is poised to lead the country into economic independence with his pragmatic policies that will be rolled out during his reign in 2017.
