Prez Mahama Is Not Being Truthful - Fmr. Volta Regional Minister

Former Volta Regional Minister, Kofi Dzamesi, has jumped to the defence of former President Kufour over the party’s development record in the region.

This follows President John Mahama’s recent comments that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nothing significant to show in terms of development in that region, despite being in power for eight years.

President Kufour in a rebuttal defended his track record, citing the famous Keta sea defense project, the Ho Polytechnic and other key projects, as some of the his administration’s achievements. Mr. Dzamesi, who was a Regional Minister at the time argued that President Mahama is not being truthful to the facts.

Speaking to Citi News, Mr. Dzamesi said “what former President Kufuor said was the truth.”

“When we came to power, the Keta sea defense had almost stalled and then President Kufuor came and we took him to the site with the consultant who was a Chief in the Volta Region and he said there was no money for the project but President Kufuor made sure that the project was completed.”

The former regional minister also explained that “the Ho Poly auditorium was constructed by NPP as well as the ICT centre and the residential facilities occupied by the lecturers.”

On roads, Mr. Dzamesi said from Wurawura to Dambai which is a first class road, was constructed under the Kufuor government.

“I was then the Regional Minister when then President Kufuor came there to cut the sod and everything has gone on successfully.”

“I rather don’t see any NDC project in the area. The youth are looking for jobs and waiting for the NPP to come back and develop Volta Region. So the advise is that they should vote out this NDC people and the development of the region will continue,” he added.
