A 10-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his 13-year-old friend at Likpe Kukurantumi in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region.
The boy, according to the police was playing with the deceased father’s gun when the unfortunate incident happened.
The Hohoe Divisional Police Commander, ACP Joseph Antwi Gyawu confirmed this to Adom News Sunday.
He indicated that, the 10-year-old found the loaded gun in the bedroom of the deceased father and accidentally shot his friend in the head while fighting over a mango.
“The 13-year-old had gone out to pick some mangoes when the 10-year-old came out with the gun and accidentally pulled the trigger and shot his friend in the head” he added.
The Police Commander blamed the father of the deceased for not removing the bullets from the gun.
ACP Gyawu said the fathers of the two have been invited for interrogation and the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Hohoe Government Hospital morgue.
