Chairman Wontumi Fingered In Manhyia North Troubles

Some incensed NPP delegates in the Manhyia North Constituency in the Ashanti Region have warned of an imminent bloodbath should the party go ahead with a purported NEC decision that will see a re-run of elections for certain positions in the constituency.

Reports from the grounds suggest that some group of people within the constituency, who do not have their names on the current album scheduled to be used for the conduct of the parliamentary primary, are behind the seeming tension and want their names included in the register, which the delegates have kicked against.

The delegates claimed the current album has been used to run all other primaries held in the constituency, insisting that they have just one election to run with the album before it expires.

Commenting on the issue on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.3 FM  Monday, the Constituency Secretary of Manhyia North, Felix Ibrahim blamed the Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako for the troubles emerging from the constituency.

“The Regional Chairman, Wontumi is part of the problem why we are not getting a lasting solution to these issues. He’s supporting Richard Osei Bamfo. He’s always taken entrenched position on these issues, even at open meetings. But the question is If we keep on bringing favouritism and factionalism into our party how can we move on?” Ibrahim queried in an interview with host Fiifi Banson on Kasapa 102.3 FM.

He’s asked the NEC to come clean on the matter or face an outbreak of violence in the constituency.

“We’ll resist any oppressors rule; it’s either we go for parliamentary elections or they should forget about it and we move on. If they try it we’ll cite them for contempt for any attempt on re-run. We’ll face them with a measurable force to prevent them from perpetrating these illegality.”
