Wee Toffees Seized In Police Swoop

A police swoop at a popular slum at Ashaiman, Asenso Bar on Thursday evening, led to the seizure of 75 pieces of “wee toffee” packaged in transparent polythenes.

About 241 wrappers of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in a polythene bag were also recovered.

An alleged notorious drug peddler, Ali Zakari, 39, who was selling the substance, was arrested together with two persons, Emmanuel Ekuadzi, 27 and Abraham Sackey, 23, were said to be smoking the Indian hemp at the time of the swoop.

Others, however, managed to escape following an alarm raised by one of the members of the ghetto about the presence of the police in the area.

Many unserviceable mobile phones were also found on Ekuadzi and Sackey.

Confirming the incident to The Ghanaian Times, the Ashaiman District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Seth Tay, said the suspects would soon be processed for court.
