Klottey Korle NDC Not Happy With Impasse Alhaji Alema

An executive of the Klottey Korle Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the leadership to resolve the case involving the incumbent Member of Parliament, Nii Armah Ashietey, and Dr Zanetor Agyemang Rawlings.

The Constituency Chairman Alhaji Bashiru Nii Nash Alema, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said many party faithful in the constituency had expressed their disappointment  at the fact that the differences between the two had led to the ineffective organisation of the party to retain the seat in the 2016 election.

Contestants

He said other contestants such as Mr Philip Addison of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nii Noi Nortey, an independent candidate and Madam Eva Lokko of the Progressive People’s Party(PPP) were seriously campaigning to capture the seat, while the NDC was fighting in court.

“When two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers,” Alhaji Alema said, adding that the situation had created the impression that the NDC was not effective in the constituency.

He advised foot soldiers not to undermine one another but to do all they could to ensure victory for the NDC in the November elections.

Court case

Alhaji Alema called on the youth who were discouraged by the court case to stand firm, pending the final determination.

Mr Justice Amarlai Tetteh, the Constituency Treasurer, told the GNA it was only through collaboration between the supporters and constituency executive members that the NDC could achieve its target in the election.

He warned against activities that were detrimental to the progress of the party and called on the foot soldiers to exercise restraint while the leadership intervened to resolve the matter.
