The judge hearing the suit filed by former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman, Paul Afoko against the party is worried about what he says is undue delay of the case.
Justice Anthony Yeboah indicated that, the delay on the part of lawyers of the NPP could amount to infringement on Mr Afoko's rights.
The judge, according to Joy News made the comment after lawyer for the NPP, Godfred Dame said he had not received the necessary document from the Afoko camp needed for the trial.
Mr Afoko is challenging his indefinite suspension from the party, arguing it is illegal. The NPP’s National Executive Committee suspended him in October 2015 for “misconduct.”
The decision was adopted by the party’s National Council, which is the second highest decision making body of the party after congress.
But the embattled chairman maintained the party erred in the decision thus is seeking redress in court. Justice Anthony Yeboah has therefore charged lawyers in the case to ensure they file the necessary documents needed by close of day Tuesday to enable pre-trial of the case on Wednesday April 13, 2016.
He also ruled that the NPP cannot gag Paul Afoko from commenting on the case but any remark should be done within the law.
