The minister for Trade and Industry, Dr Ekow Spio-Gabrah, has admonished the youth of Ghana to involve themselves in agriculture.

The Trades and Industry minister made this call yesterday when he visited the Brong Ahafo region on a three day working tour.

To him, there is the need for young graduates to value agriculture and involve themselves in it rather than opting to join groups who will not explore chances but call themselves unemployed graduates.

According to Dr Spio-Garbrah, people in some parts of the country are using farming to create jobs for themselves and others majority of whom are the youth.

He added that farming of any kind contributes to the stability of the economy through numerous job creation.

Dr,Ekow Spio-Gabrah disclosed that, government has made giant strides to improve Rural Enterprises in various districts and municipalities in the country to support the youth to get more skills to create jobs for themselves.

He seized the opportunity to advise the unemployed university graduates in the urban centres who have their roots from the rural areas to return home and engage in agriculture.

Speaking to some stakeholders of agriculture including oil palm, maize, cocoa and poultry farmers in the Tano North and South districts Dr Spio-Garbrah said agriculture though unattractive as it may seem is the backbone of every developing country such as Ghana,so all Ghanaians had to value it as such and work to improve it.

The minister's visit continues on Tuesday and ends on Wednesday where he is expected to visit some areas in the region where various cashcrops are grown.

However, he visited some farms like Kyekyeku poultry farm in Dwomoh,God with Us Poultry farm, Cocoa Board Nursery Project, Rural Enterprises Technology Facility and the Hop palm oil factory all at Bechem.

He has been interacting with farmers on the modern ways of farming to boost the economy through better trade.
