Four Before Court For Tyre Theft

Four people, who stole a spare tyre of a fuel tanker at Akpokope near Ho while the slept have appeared before a Ho Circuit Court. The accused persons; Kokuvi Adzakpa, 20, Lorlor Atigah, 22, Alipodzi Koku, 22, farmers, and Xede Ameko, 20, a kenter weaver, all pleaded not guilty and were remanded in prison custody to appear on October 13, this year. Atigah is facing additional charges for stealing three mobile phones, six male and two female cover cloths, reported stolen at Ave-Dakpa, a few kilometers from Akpokope. The items were found in his room during a police search while investigating the loss of the spare tyre. Mr Emmanuel Okudzeto, Chief Inspector of Police, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Ernest Obimpeh that on Monday, September 21, this year at about 001 hours one Kobina Sarpong, who was driving a fuel tanker from Tema through Denu to Ho decided to pass the night at Akpokope due to tiredness. He said when Mr. Sarpong woke up the following morning, he detected that the spare tyre on the vehicle, valued at Ghc 1,000.00 was missing and therefore reported to the chief of the town. Mr Okudzeto said investigations by the chief led to the arrest of the accused persons who were handed over to the police. Atigah told the court regarding his additional charges that the items were given to him by one Atsu Gorni but when the said Gorni was arrested he denied, only claiming that Atigah visited him but left unceremoniuously. In another development, Bright Agidi, 21 a kente weaver who entered the room of one Mr Felix Azorli of Akpokope and made away with a brief case containing personal effects and a DVD player was also remanded in prison custody to be brought before the court again on October 20, this year.
