Wrong Mentality About Poverty Is A Cause Of Poverty

Attempts by government, NGOs and individuals all over the world, to fight poverty, will yield little or no results, if people do not change their wrong mentality about poverty. The Director of the West Africa Office of Samaritan strategy, Mr. Christopher Ampadu, made the observation today in an interview with Peace FM. He said the habit of people who classify themselves as the poor because they come from less privileged families and therefore cannot change their economic circumstances, is the underlying cause of poverty. To change this wrong notion, Mr. Ampadu, said religious bodies and for that matter churches, need to educate their members to change their wrong perception about poverty and work had to improve their lives. On how to promote peace, Mr. Ampadu urged leaders of countries and all people in responsible positions to eschew discrimination, selfishness, hatred and tribalism.
