AshGold CEO Kudjoe Fianoo Threatens Resignation

Ashantigold CEO, A Kudjoe Fianoo, is ready to step down from his post to satisfy the club’s board. On Monday, the National Co- ordinating Council and the fans body of the club, called for Fianoo’s salary to be slashed by 50 per cent.

The supporters body also asked that the head coach, Bashir Hayford, be made to step aside. The development follows the club’s poor start to life in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League (GPL) that has seen them record a number of discouraging results.

Ashgold received their heaviest defeat in many years with a 5-1 a n n i h i l a t i o n b y L i b e r t y Professionals at the Dansoman Parkand was followed by a shocking 1- 0 loss to Dreams FC at their Obuasi Len Clay fortress. But the experienced football administrator has said that he does not mind leaving the team if that is what will save the club.

“Things are not going on well for the club at all but we need to be focused and bring back the team to life. There are agitations by the fans here, but you know in Ashgold we have structures, you cannot wake up and do what you want,” Fianoo told Kumasi-based Nhyira FM.

“I have received a letter from the supporters this morning requesting for my resignation. I will forward the letter to the board and was followed by a shocking 1-0 loss to Dreams FC at their Obuasi Len Clay fortress.

I will forward the letter to the board of directors of the club and if they think my resignation will resurrect the club from its current woes, then I don’t have a problem but for now I need to keep it cool and meet the board.

“I was expecting the entire Ashgold fraternity to come together and stop the blame games but I can’t hide my feelings. All these issues have been there for long but it was over shadowed because of the League we won last season.” AshantiGold’s title campaign is in tatters and has managed just one win in the season.
