Cholera Alert: One Case Confirmed In Accra

The Ministry of Health has issued a cholera alert following a confirmed case at the Achimota Hospital in Accra.

The Ministry is therefore calling on the general public to observe strict sanitation practices to avoid the spread of the disease in the country following the onset of the rains.

Confirming the case on Accra-based Citi FM, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Health, Mr Tony Goodman, said the Ministry was working assiduously to prevent an outbreak of the disease.

In 2015, a total of 690 cases were recorded across the country.

But according to Mr Goodman, it is expected that the number of cases will be less if people observed proper sanitation practices.

He said the Ministry has launched a campaign to drum home the need for proper hygiene.

"What we are doing is to collaborate with the media to assist the Ministry to conscientise the public," he said.
