UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Draw

*Manchester City paired with Real Madrid in Champions League semi-final draw while Atletico Madrid face Bayern Munich

Manchester City will face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

City knocked out Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals thanks to a goal from Belgian midfielder Kevin De Bruyne which secured a 1-0 victory at the Etihad Stadium and sent the Premier League side through 3-2 on aggregate.

Madrid recovered from a 2-0 first-leg defeat by Wolfsburg to progress to the last four following a hat-trick by former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo and fellow former Premier League star Gareth Bale will return to England what is likely to be a sensational two-legged affair.

City will be at home in the first leg on April 26 before heading to the Bernabeu a week later. The Premier League outfit faced Real in the Champions League 2012-13 group stage.

In the Bernabeu, Real beat City 3-2 thanks to three goals by Marcelo, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo, while Edin Dzeko and Aleksandar Kolarov scored for City.
The return in Manchester ended 1-1, with Sergio Aguero equalising from the penalty spot after Benzema gave Real a 10th-minute lead.

Manuel Pellegrini was manager at Real Madrid from 2009 to 2010, during which time the likes of Ronaldo was bought from Manchester United for £80m, along with Karim Benzema and Xabi Alonso.

The Chilean, though, was sacked after just one season, and replaced by Jose Mourinho, following early elimination from the Champions League and also losing out on the domestic championship to Barcelona.

The other semi-final will see Atletico Madrid, who knocked out Barcelona, take on Bayern Munich, managed by Pep Guardiola in what will be his final season before taking over at City next season.

There is history between Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid as they met in the 1974 European Cup final. The first match at Heysel in Brussels ended in a 1-1 draw after extra time, before Bayern won the replay 4-0 thanks to two apiece from Gerd Muller and Uli Hoeness.
