Prez Mahama At JB Danquah's Funeral (Photos)

The final funeral rites of the late Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North constituency, Joseph Boakye Danquah-Adu took place at the forecourt of the State house today [Friday], April 15.

Present at the funeral were President John Mahama, Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, and his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

National Executives of the NPP, leadership and members of Parliament and some minsters of state were also present to pay their last respect.

NPP stalwarts including Alan Kyeremanteng, Yaw Osafo Marfo, Kwame Mpianim and the suspended trio of Kwabena Agyepong, Paul Afoko and Sammi Crabbe were at the late MP’s funeral.

JB Danquah was allegedly killed by a 19-year-old boy, Daniel Asiedu, who entered his residence at Shiashie in Accra and stabbed him to death.

The body of JB Danquah, a former Deputy Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs, will be taken to Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern region for final burial rites on Saturday.

The late Joseph Boakye Danquah, once served as a Deputy Minister for Women and Children’s Affairs. He was the Abuakwa North MP from 2000 until 2008, when he lost the seat to the NPP’s Prof. Samuel Amoako.

He returned in 2012 to win the seat. He left behind a wife and two children. Joseph Boakye Danquah, a chartered Accountant by profession, is the grandson of late J.B Danquah, a Ghanaian statesman, pan-Africanist, scholar and historian, who played a significant role in pre- and post-colonial Ghana.
