The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rubbished suggestions by the Vice President, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, that they are incapable of managing the country should they be handed power in the November polls.
In the view of the Vice President, the NPP’s seeming inability to settle their internal issues, indicate that they cannot manage the country.
But the party’s 2016 Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, in what appears to be a response to Amissah-Arthur, says the party can boast of rich human resource that can turn around the fortunes of the country.
“…We have the solutions to change the course of the nation’s destiny and lift the masses out of misery. We have the solutions to put food on the table, create jobs and comfort for Ghanaians.”
Have faith in me
Speaking at a gathering of chiefs and people of Anhwiase in the Western Region, Nana Addo further appealed to Ghanaians to have faith in him and his vision for the nation.
“I want to promise you that Godwilling when I get the presidential nod I will not disappoint you. I beseech you all to pray for me because the hardship that the country is about to face is unimaginable; but the NPP has the solutions to these looming challenges.”
NPP only interested in owning property
The Vice President, after suggesting that the NPP lacked the right leadership to govern the country should they be voted in the November election, also stated that the party is only interested in property owning since their ideology hinges on property-owning democracy.
Speaking at the launch of a group calling itself ‘Young professionals for John Mahama and Amissah Arthur’ at the campus of the University of Professional Studies, Mr. Amissah said the NPP is not ready to improve the lives of the citizenry.
“How do we develop a meritocratic but compassionate society and not a self-seeking culture that intensifies inequality? Our vision is to create a compassionate nation based on the merits of people; on meritocracy and that we compare to our opponents who are self-seeking because their own motto tells you what they are about. I don’t know if you know the motto; property owning democracy for themselves.
“That’s property for me but not to expand opportunities for us. So we are two extremes…they are looking for self; and we are looking for community. They are looking to expand the opportunities for an individual; and we are looking to expand opportunities for a group so that’s the difference between us,” he explained.
