Deputy Roads and Highways Minister and Member of Parliament for Wassa East in the Western region, Isaac Adjei Mensah has shredded the claims of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and charged them to provide enough evidence to back their claims that the asphalting of some roads and construction of sea defence projects in some parts of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis were being funded by oil giants Tullow Ghana Limited.
The minister was responding to a press conference held by the Western Regional branch of the NPP on the President John Mahama’s visit to the Western region some days ago.
The Western Regional Communication Officer of the NPP, Okatakyie Amankwa Africa after the press conference exclusively told Radio 360, a private radio station in Takoradi that asphalting of some roads and sea defence project inspected by President Mahama during his “accounting to the people tour” was funded by Tullow Ghana and not government.
The deputy minister in a response on Radio 360 morning programme “Morning 360” told host of the show Kwame Malcolm that the two projects were solely funded by the government and described the NPP’s claim as false.
He advised the general public to disregard such claims by NPP.
