The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has given its parliamentary candidates who have failed to launch their campaigns for the 2016 general elections up to tomorrow to do so or face disciplinary action.
The party has less than seven months to campaign as it seeks to overturn its defeat to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2012 general elections.
The National Campaign Co-ordinating Council of the party has expressed worry that some of its parliamentary candidates are not on the ground in their constituencies working to secure victory for its flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
An internal memo signed by the head of the national campaign, Peter Mac Manu, and sighted by Class News, gives parliamentary candidates up to today to return to their constituencies to work or face the wrath of the party.
The party has further directed its constituency executives to report MPs who fail to show up in the constituencies by April 22 for disciplinary action to be taken against them.
Ghana goes to the polls on November 7 to elect a new President and 275 Members of Parliament.
