A member of the communication team of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hopeson Yaovi Adorye has chided Security Analyst, Irbad Ibrahim on his claims of vindication over the US Embassy statement that Nana Akufo-Addo, Flagbearer of NPP was consulted before the ex-Guantanamo bay detainees were transfer to Ghana.

Irbad Ibrahim is claiming vindication upon the US Embassy’s assertion of consulting Nana Addo before the Gitmo 2 detainees were transfer to Ghana as he had mentioned earlier that Nana Akufo-Addo was consulted 6 months before the detainees were brought to Ghana.

According to the Security Analyst on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, “I feel vindicated upon the report from the US Embassy that Nana Akufo-Addo was consulted including other stakeholders about 18 months ago before the Gitmo 2 detainees were brought to Ghana.”

But Hopeson Adorye on the same platform ascribed the claim of vindication by Irbad Ibrahim as fraudulent deal which contradicts his earlier apology he rendered to Nana Akufo-Addo on Facebook wall for giving misleading information on the Gitmo 2 detainees.

“I want people to know that this Ibrahim guy is a liar. He should stop his fraudulent claim; he said on Okay Fm that Nana Addo was consulted 6 months ago and he was fully aware...not quite long ago, this guy wrote on his Facebook wall to apologize that Nana Addo should forgive him because he was misled with the information,” he jabbed.

“Today, he is saying that he has been vindicated; he is a liar. What he has said today, when I compare to what he wrote on his Facebook wall, I will say that what he is doing is fraudulent and nobody should take him serious...he is not a security expert like Dr. Kwesi Aning, Emmanuel Bombade and the rest...you overhyping this guy too much in the media,” he averred.

He however admonished Ibrahim not to denigrate Nana Akufo-Addo in his conversation, insisting that the two detainees were in the country before Nana Akufo-Addo was informed and not consulted as the US Embassy and Irbad Ibrahim are claiming.

He indicated that the posture of Irbad Ibrahim shows clearly his political lineage as he cannot throw dust into the eyes of Ghanaians that he is not in bed with the NDC government.

In a sharp rebuttal, the Peace Ambassador admitted he got the 6 months specific time wrong in his submission that Nana Addo was consulted on the Gitmo 2 detainees in the country as there was an intelligence gap, but added this cannot take away from the substantial fact that the NPP Flagbearer was informed of the Gitmo 2 detainees.
