Mr Alexis Ayamdor, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Bongo District, has appealed to assembly members not to allow party politics to distract the development agenda of the District.

Addressing the Assembly members at Bongo, the DCE said the District which was created in 1998, continues to enjoy high levels of development in several areas including education, water and sanitation, health, roads and electricity.

“We should not allow party politics to cloud over our development agenda. Charting that path may lead us to doing a disservice to our people. Our duty here is to provide services to the benefit of our people. I am appealing to all of us to put our political differences behind us. We must commit ourselves to ensuring healthy debates, devoid of acrimony, backbiting, unfounded allegations and pull-him down syndrome”, he said.

Mr Ayamdor said to expand access and improve quality education, Government, under the World Bank project known as Secondary Education Improvement Project (SEIP), was rehabilitating and constructing three Senior High Schools- the Bongo, Gowrie and Zorkor Schools in the District.

He said under the Government’s Better Ghana Agenda, the District and the Global Partnership for Education Grant (GPEG) has provided 600 dual desks, 226 metal dual desks, six toilet facilities and seven urinals to the District Directorate of the Ghana Education Service to enhance teaching and learning.

On Health, the DCE said the Assembly has used the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), to build 36 functional zones CHPs compounds and commended the District Health Management Team for their hard work.

He said under the Agriculture sector, the Assembly with support from the Spanish Government had commenced the construction of underground water (mechanized boreholes) for sprinkler irrigation at Tankoo and Beo-Nayire and also established a weather station at the Agriculture office premises.

“On dams, the Ghana Social Opportunity Project has awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of the Sikabiisi and Nammo Dug-Out for dry season farming to increase the incomes of the rural farmer and to arrest rural-urban immigration. The Goo-Akusarigo dug-out is also on-going”, he said.

Mr Ayamdor said the Zorko and Soe Small Town Water System has been completed and were being tested to check leakages in the distribution lines before full operation commences.
