Sanja Nanja Banned Again By Another Paramount Chief

The member of parliament for Atebubu/Amantin, Hon. Sanja Nanja, is hot again as the Amantin paramountcy has banned him from attending any social event in their area.

The paramount Chief of Amantin, another paramountcy in the Atebubu area, Nana Owusu Ababio II, on Monday announced at the palace of the  Atebubu  Manhene that he and his elders have also banned their legislator, who is battling to come to terms with a first ban by the Atebubu Traditional Council.

According to Nana Ababio II, the Amantin Traditional Council's ban on Mr Nanja is in solidarity with the  Atebubu Traditional Council on the banning of their MP after he was accused of insulting the queen mother Atebubu on radio.

The Atebubu Traditional Council had accused the MP for disrespecting them by using some offensive words against the queen-mother of the town, Nana Afia Donyina, on Kasoa based Pink FM.

He is also accused of saying he would not apologise for his conduct.

However, the director of elections for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo led a delegation from the party of which Mr Sanja Nanja is member,to the chiefs of Atebubu to apologise on the behalf of their brother,Sanja but the President of the Atebubu Amanten Youth Association, Asamoah Mensah, said the traditional council was yet to decide his fate following the party’s visit, adding that they would meet on  April 29,2016 to reach a consensus on their next line of action.

At the meeting, a sub chief, Nana Kofi Amoakohene, the  Akwamu Hene of Amantim who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Amantin declared that they support any decision that the Atebubu Traditional council has taken on the ban of  Mr.Sanja Nanja.

Passionate Nana Amoakohene disclosed that: "We have also banned him from attending any event or that will help him to campaign on the Land of Amantin Traditional Council".

According to him  the queen mother of Atebubu is their mother so  they have to support her in any way to preserve customs.

"We the people of Amantim are supporting you today so nobody is disrespected again. Next time it could happen to a different queen mother or chief so we have to support you" he added

Speaking at the meeting, the Linguist of Atebubu, Nana Boakye Yiadom who  spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Atebubu, Nana Owusu  Brempong II, commended the Traditional Council of Amantin for supporting them in their quest to instill discipline on their land.
